It is with heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of Bill Hall, the founder of the Charleston Tea Garden and a dear friend to all of us. Bill passed away peacefully on January 26th after a long and valiant fight against cancer.
For everyone that knew Bill, he truly was a force of nature. It is through his tenacity that the Charleston Tea Garden was born and today is now a premier destination in South Carolina. Bill was also a renowned expert in the tea industry as he was professionally trained as a tea taster in England. He took those skill sets and applied them to the Charleston Tea Garden, ensuring that each cup was consistent year after year.
Amongst many things, including his family, Bill’s legacy is in the success of the Charleston Tea Garden. He loved this place with all his heart and instilled that passion in the people that were so fortunate to get to work side by side with him. To all of us that worked with him, he was inspirational. We were the fortunate ones who got to learn from him daily. His lessons, regardless of whether they were about business, tea or life, were always to make each of us better. He was our mentor. He was our friend.
There will never be another Bill Hall.
