With a very special Friday reception day
The Venue
British Car Day will be at the same venue that we have used for the past few years, Palmetto Islands County Park. We have use of the three shelters shown, Tall Pine, Sweet Gum and Big Oak, as well as the rest rooms.
The Friday Welcome Reception
For those who arrive on Thursday, we have a full Friday of events planned. Friday will start at 10am with a meet up at the McLeod Plantation. We'll then take a drive through some of the most scenic parts of Charleston. Then starting at 1pm you can go to an traditional English tea. Then at 3pm you can take a tour of McLeod Plantation. The Evening Welcome Reception runs from 5pm to 9pm and is included for two with your British Car Day registration.
Tour the McLeod Plantation
At registration you can sign up for a tour of the McLeod Plantation. Click on the map below to see it full size. The map shows the location of the plantation as well as the pavilion where the Welcome Reception is located. The tour will start at 3pm and there is a maximum of 40 people for the tour, so register early!
Established in 1851, McLeod Plantation has borne witness to some of the most significant periods of our nation’s history. Today McLeod Plantation Historic Site is an important 37-acre Gullah/Geechee heritage site that has been carefully preserved in recognition of its cultural and historical significance. The grounds include a riverside outdoor pavilion, a sweeping oak allée, and the McLeod Oak, which is thought to be more than 600 years old.
